Alan has 15 years of experience in product design, engineering, supply chain and sustainability. Originally from Ireland, Alan lives and works in Hong Kong and has been based in Asia for most of his career.



In 2021, Alan was announced as UN Global Compact SDG Pioneer for a Circular Economy.


Alan develops the global PCH sustainability strategy, to go beyond compliance and focus on the economic benefit of excellence in environmental and social performance. In doing so, Alan has extended the PCH stakeholder network to include NGOs, industry groups, academics and local communities that continue to ensure positive impact of our work. 


He also established numerous energy and process efficiency projects within the supply base, introduced a first-of-its-kind migrant worker helpline for factory workers and SourceFlo Supply Chain Mapping.

Alan is primarily interested in the intersection of technology and sustainability. Bringing new products and technologies to market at the right time while also maximizing positive social and environmental impact. 



Alan received a Bachelor of Engineering Degree from the University of Limerick (Ireland), and a Masters of Science Degree from the Universitaat Oldenburg (Germany).

Alan is a board member of Irish Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong.

Chris has 19 years of experience working on large-scale business events. Originally from the UK, Chris has lived and worked in Hong Kong since 2015.

Chris moved to Hong Kong to establish a North Asia office for a London-based trade expo organiser and launch a series of digital transformation events. The challenges of living sustainably and a developing concern around the exponential threats of the global climate emergency compelled Chris to “rethink” his own personal contribution to Hong Kong and how he could best make a positive impact on a city he now proudly calls home.

Chris conceived, designed and launched the ReThink HK event during the first part of 2019 – undeterred by the challenges faced by live events at that time, due to civil unrest, the new event concept for uniting the full business and sustainability ecosystem, championing positive action and shared responsibility received excellent support. The inaugural 2020 event was, unsurprisingly, delayed due to Covid but finally ran, in-person, at the K11 Quarry Bay with 450 attendees and all delegate fees being donated to local charities.

Chris’ experience in hosting content-led expo-style healthcare events in the UK, where partnerships and collaboration are crucial to success, provided the foundation for Chris to widen the supporting-network of organisations and sponsors for ReThink HK – resulting in 2021’s move to the HKCEC and Hong Kong’s best attended event dedicated to the business of sustainability. Chris is proud to have maintained the event’s impact pledge; with all delegate fees contributing to impact projects with local Hong Kong charites.

Working alongside the Business Environment Council, Chambers of Commerce, specialist industry associations, NGOs and action groups the collective ambition for ReThink HK is to accelerate change in Hong Kong – the event returns for its third edition this October at the HKCEC and aims to be at least carbon neutral.

Chris received a Bachelor’s degree in International Business and Italian from the University of Plymouth (UK). Chris is a member of the British Chamber of Commerce’s Social Sustainability Committee and the Sustainability sub-committee of the Hong Kong Exhibition & Convention Industry Association.

Davis Bookhart joined HKUST in August 2013 to develop the university’s first comprehensive sustainability master plan (the HKUST 2020 Sustainability Challenge), which has since been revised and updated with goals and targets through 2028. Focusing on four key challenge areas – operations, education, demonstration, and community networks – Bookhart serves as the steward of the Plan’s implementation. He also serves as secretariat for the Sustainable Smart Campus as a Living Lab initiative, is Chair of the Task Force on Sustainability Progress within the HK Sustainable Campus Consortium, and serves as Advisory Board member of the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE). Bookhart teaches classes on sustainability management and sustainability thinking, both of which train aspiring students the skills and mental framework for solving complex problems in the 21st century.

Bookhart came to HKUST after eight years as the director of the Office of Sustainability at Johns Hopkins University. As founding director, Bookhart built the office to focus on integrating students and faculty into campus sustainability projects while embedding sustainability into campus operations, policies, and procedures. Before joining Johns Hopkins, Bookhart founded Charm21 – Clean and Healthy Air through Renewables in Maryland – a non-profit group advocating the use of renewable fuels in the Baltimore region, and was senior project director of the public interest group Consumer Energy Council of America. In 2008 Bookhart was appointed by Baltimore Mayor Sheila Dixon to the city’s first Sustainability Commission. Bookhart holds a master’s degree in International Affairs from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University and a master’s of American Literature from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.

Sammie Leung is a Partner of One Firm Services in PwC Mainland China and Hong Kong. She has long been engaged in ESG and climate change related issues. With a team of 100+ Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) professionals, the nationwide practice offers four key services: ESG Reporting, Green Finance, Climate and Strategy & Transformation.

For corporates, Sammie’s team serve 80+ companies in ESG disclosure advisory work, including reporting in accordance with major reporting frameworks such as Global Reporting Initiatives (GRI), Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) and Hong Kong Stock Exchange ESG guidelines .

Sammie also helps corporate clients start or enhance compliance with recommendations of Taskforce on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) by advising on identification of climate-related risks, performing science-based scenario analysis, measuring and disclosing corresponding financial impacts. She also assists clients in science-based target setting, decarbonisation strategy design and implementation as well as United Nation Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs) adoption.

For asset managers and owners, Sammie led the SFC survey on integrating Environmental, Social and Governance Factors and Climate Risks in Asset Management in 2019. Her project experience also covers ESG integration framework design, ESG strategy, climate-related risk integration and assessment for different types of investment houses.

Sammie serves multiple roles in professional associations on ESG related matters, including the Hong Kong Green Finance Association (HKGFA) and the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA). She has been serving as a member of the External Audit Committee of a tertiary education entity in Hong Kong for over seven years.

Sammie is a member of the Academy of Finance (AoF), the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Accountants (HKICPA) and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
