Vermouth is an aromatized fortified wine, flavoured with various botanicals such as roots, barks, flowers, seeds, herbs and spices. Vermouth was first produced in the mid-to-late 18th century in the city of Turin for medicinal purposes, it was later served as an aperitif, and eventually became popular with bartenders as a key ingredient for cocktails in the late 19th century.

The Italian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong and Macao, in collaboration with the F&B Committee and sponsored by Boffi | de Padova and Brightview, are delighted to present the Vermouth Masterclass.

Our guests will discover all the secrets of the fundamental ingredient of traditional Italian Aperitivo, and will have the chance to taste the authenticity of this outstanding spirit. During the event, two professionals of Italian beverages will reveal all the details of this intriguing spirit.

  • Jonny Amir, Beverage Director of Lan Kwai Fong Group, will tell the story and the typical features of vermouth, from its origins in the Northwest of Italy to the current most popular combinations with other flavors.
  • Simone Rossi, Beverage Manager at DarkSide of Rosewood Hotel, will show our guests how to prepare 3 different original cocktails with vermouth as the main ingredient.
